Marsha Genensky, Operations & Communications Lead
As a founding member and business manager of the internationally renowned women’s a cappella vocal quartet, Anonymous 4, Marsha has had firsthand experience with the power of girls bringing change through song. With the other “A4 girls,” Marsha traveled to 49 of the 50 states in America and to several dozen other countries — and made more than 20 Classical Billboard chart-topping, award-winning albums of medieval chant and polyphony, contemporary music, and American music for the harmonia mundi usa label. A4 commissioned new works from composers David Lang, Sir John Tavener, Steve Reich, and Richard Einhorn, and collaborated with a variety of other artists, among them a harpist, a string quartet, three newgrass innovators, an old-time music master, and an indie rock star. Among her favorite moments with A4: performing 13th-century music in a 13th-century church for the first time, in Regensburg, Germany; appearing in concert only a few feet away from J.S. Bach’s tomb in the Thomaskirche in Leipzig, Germany; and raising a swirling of resident bats while singing in the 10th-century Abbaye du Thoronet, in France. Now that A4 has disbanded, Marsha enjoys sleeping in her bed at home, favors traveling by foot, and is proud to continue to champion musical girl group power through her offstage role at iSing.
